... and how these Cold War actors murdered the crew of cargo-ship Angoche

THE ANGOCHE MISTERY is the chronicle of an investigation. We unveil the terror attack against the portuguese ‘ghost ship’ after half a century of mystery

Who in Portugal planned, executed, and concealed the responsibility for the terrorist attack on cargo-ship Angoche off the coast of Mozambique in 1971?
This book aims to unravel the enigma.

Other mysteries abound in contemporary Portugal alongside the ‘Angoche case’:
» AGINTER-PRESS - is the ‘other PIDE’ (former state security police) - an elite spy and mercenary agency, the Portuguese branch of Operation GLADIO, ‘daughter’ of NATO and CIA
» The enigmatic Mr. HERBERT LESTER - Salazar's secret agent and advisor
» JORGE JARDIM’s network – he is the portuguese ‘Lawrence of Africa’
» ‘Count of Pavullo’ - the patriarch ZOIO plus a Portuguese web of ‘merchants of death’

The Author:

Born in Lisbon on September 18th, 1959, Paulo Oliveira went to Mozambique with his family in August 1960. He lived in Lourenço Marques (Maputo) until September 1979, when he returned to Portugal. He was a skydiving practitioner and instructor at the Aeroclube de Moçambique, with a free-fall license, in 1978 and 1979, and studied Electrical Engineering at Eduardo Mondlane University.

In the Portuguese capital, since August 1981, he has been part of the external wing of the movement that would become RENAMO, having subsequently assumed the position of director of the broadcaster Voz da África Livre, in South Africa, from February 1983 to March 16, 1984 - date of the Nkomáti Agreement between the 'apartheid' country and Mozambique. Part of this period takes place in the bush and in ‘special departments’ of Pretoria. While in South Africa, he was a correspondent for several Portuguese news organizations.

Back in Lisbon, he was director of the RENAMO magazine, being appointed spokesperson and, later, in 1986, delegate of the movement for Western Europe. During this period, he was also a journalist in the international section and a contributor to several Lisbon newspapers. He left RENAMO in October 1987 in disagreement with excessive South African control and the group's line of action, putting an end to seven years of collaboration with the African guerrilla movement in the area of psychological warfare - information analysis and advertising.

At the end of 1987, he published the first issue of an independent newsletter on Mozambique and Southern Africa, ‘Mozambique Hoje’. In March 1988, after the opening of the Mozambican regime, he returned to Maputo. From his experience with the guerrilla movement he compiled the writing ‘RENAMO: a Descent into the Heart of Darkness’, the Makwákwa Dossier.

From the network of knowledge and friends in Cairo and, further north, in the Nile Delta, in Mahalla al-Kubra, and among Arab people in the Parisian banlieues, he elaborates material for another book, a very current novel 'Mak: Operation D7' , a 'terrorist' provocation. His areas of interest are Information Theory and Chaos Theory.
